Colossians 2:13-15, NLT ‭You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Up to that point in my life, I had developed a pattern of seeking comfort from the wrong source. Especially in the area of sexuality, there was impurity again and again. I was so tired of it. Galatians 3:13 (NLT) “But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law…”  The verse continues by explaining that Jesus took the curse upon Himself when He hung on the cross. Jesus has bought us back from the curse that the law placed on us by taking that curse upon Himself. Every father and mother recognizes themselves in their children — the good traits, but also the bad ones. Good traits are a blessing, and bad traits can feel like a curse. You see this principle in Deuteronomy 28, the chapter of blessing and curse. Curses can continue through the fourth generation. Jesus has redeemed us from that curse by becoming a curse for us. 1 Peter 1:18–19 (NLT) “For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors… It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.”  The secret is the blood of the Lamb. Galaten 3:13 Jezus heeft ons vrijgekocht  van de vloek die de wet over ons bracht, door voor ons die vloek op zich te nemen. Elke vader en moeder herkent zichzelf in hun kinderen. De goede eigenschappen, maar ook de slechte. Goede eigenschappen zijn een zegen en slechte een vloek. Dat principe zie je al in Deuteronomium 28, hét hoofdstuk van de zegen en de vloek. Vloeken kunnen doorwerken tot in het vierde geslacht.  Jezus heeft ons vrijgekocht van die vloek door voor ons een vloek te worden.  1Petrus 1:18-19, BOEK ‭U weet toch wat een geweldige losprijs God heeft betaald om u vrij te kopen van het lege bestaan dat u, net als uw ‭voorouders‭, leidde.   Proverbs 4:23 — Guard Your Heart Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” The heart of the city of Jerusalem was the temple. That place had to be guarded more carefully than anything else in the city, because God — the Source of life — dwelled there. The gates of Jerusalem formed the boundaries of the city and determined what came in and what went out. In the first chapters of Nehemiah we see what happens when the gates lie in ruins. Six of the ten gates of Jerusalem had to be rebuilt (Nehemiah 3). Boundaries that needed restoration. I will walk through them one by one to show the spiritual lessons they teach us about the boundaries of our own hearts — boundaries that may be in ruins, and boundaries that stand firm no matter what happens. --- 1) Sheep Gate A boundary set by God.   Spreuken 4:23, Boek Bewaak je hart beter dan alle andere dingen. Want in je hart is de bron van het leven. Het hart van de stad Jeruzalem was de tempel. Die moest bewaakt worden, beter dan alle andere dingen in de stad. Want in de tempel woonde God, de Bron van het leven. De poorten van Jeruzalem vormden de grenzen van de stad en bepaalden wat er in kwam en wat er uit ging. Nehemia laat in de eerste hoofdstukken zien wat er gebeurd als de poorten in puin liggen. Zes van de tien poorten van Jeruzalem moesten herbouwd worden (Nehemia 3). Grenzen die hersteld moesten worden. Ik ga ze 1 voor 1 langs om de geestelijke les te laten zien die spreekt over de grenzen van ons hart die mogelijk in puin liggen en wat fier overeind blijft staan, wat er ook gebeurt. 1) Schaapspoort Een grens die God gesteld heeft. Palm 42:5 and 11, NLT  Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again - my Savior and my God! The emotions of joy, sorrow, fear, and anger are familiar to all of us. You created us with these emotions, just as You, Lord Jesus, experienced them when You lived on earth as a human being. Today is the day between Good Friday and Easter, the days in which all these emotions surged through Your spirit, soul, and body. Joy because of what lay before You — the resurrection. Psalm 42:6 en 12, NBV Wat ben je bedroefd, mijn ziel, en onrustig in mij.  Vestig je hoop op God, eens zal ik Hem weer loven, mijn God die mij ziet en redt. De emoties blijdschap, verdriet, angst en boosheid kennen we allemaal. U heeft ons gemaakt met deze emoties, zoals U die ook had Heer Jezus, toen U als mens op aarde leefde. Vandaag is de dag tussen Goede Vrijdag en Pasen in, de dagen dat al deze emoties door Uw geest, ziel en lichaam heen gierden.  Blijdschap om wat er voor U lag, de opstanding. Verlossing voor de mensheid van de macht van het kwaad en verzoening met Uw Vader.  Verdriet over wat het kwaad deed en doet met de mens van wie U zoveel houdt. Ze wisten niet wat ze deden Heer en vandaag de dag weten nog steeds veel mensen niet wat ze aan het doen zijn en slaan ze de plank compleet mis.   2 Corinthiërs 9:6-12, Boek Onthoud dit goed: wie niet veel geeft, zal ook zelf niet veel ontvangen. Een boer die weinig zaait, zal maar weinig oogsten, maar wie veel zaait,  zal ook veel oogsten. Ieder moet voor zichzelf uitmaken hoeveel hij zal geven. Dwing niemand iets te geven,  want dan doet hij het met tegenzin. God houdt ervan dat U met een blij hart geeft. God geeft zijn genade in overvloed, zodat u niet alleen zelf alles krijgt wat nodig is, maar het ook royaal met anderen kunt delen. Het staat zo in de Boeken: "Hij geeft veel weg aan de armen,  zijn rechtvaardig handelen houdt voor altijd stand.' God, die de boer zaad geeft om te zaaien en ons brood om te eten, zal u steeds meer zaad en steeds grotere oogsten geven. Dan kunt u van uw overvloed steeds meer uitdelen. I tend to say, “Just ask others what they like about me.” But what You do, Lord Jesus, is look at Your Father. And You see that He loves You deeply. That forms the solid foundation for You to love us. And between those two realities lies today’s step: loving yourself. “Love your neighbor as yourself.” How important it is for fathers and mothers to show love to their children and affirm who they are, what they’re good at, and what is delightful about them.
