“But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law…”
The verse continues by explaining that Jesus took the curse upon Himself when He hung on the cross.
Jesus has bought us back from the curse that the law placed on us by taking that curse upon Himself.
Every father and mother recognizes themselves in their children — the good traits, but also the bad ones. Good traits are a blessing, and bad traits can feel like a curse. You see this principle in Deuteronomy 28, the chapter of blessing and curse. Curses can continue through the fourth generation.
Jesus has redeemed us from that curse by becoming a curse for us.
“For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors… It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.”
The secret is the blood of the Lamb. It cleanses every child of God from the empty way of life inherited from their ancestors and sets you free. It is up to us to take that step toward Jesus and His shed blood — a step into freedom.
